Company History

SalDan Developments Limited is a company rich with local history, helping shape and build the communities we serve throughout our years of conducting business. Below you will see listings of a few of our milestones and accomplishments over the years, for both residential and commercial builds from 1980 to current.

  • Built more than 6000 single family homes from Sault Ste. Marie to the Greater Toronto Area in a span of over 40 years to date.
  • Urban Native Co-Operative – 10 home projects in Wawa, Ontario. This project was a design and build project, completed in September 1992.
  • Cochrane Temiskaming Native Housing Corporation -13 house project in Chapleau, Ontario.
  • Toronto, Ontario – Completed yet another unique and luxury home more than 10,000 sq. ft in the Ledbury Park neighborhood.
  • Completed and sold 2 large luxury homes in the Ledbury Park neighborhood in Toronto, Ontario.
  • Oakville, Ontario – Constructed a 5000 sq. ft. luxury custom home in the coveted Chartwell/Cornwall Rd. neighborhood.
  • Greater Toronto Area – Renovated more than 30 properties in the past 5 years ranging from $50,000 to $1 million conversions including multiple single-family dwelling to multi-unit for investment properties.
  • Mulberry Street (2021-Current) – Our newest upscale development within the ‘Fox Run’ subdivision in Sault Ste Marie. The street consists of 31 lots.
  • Crestwood Avenue (2014-22’) – Recently completed in Sault Ste Marie, ON. Includes 38 single family homes and 14 townhouses.
  • Pine Crest Gardens (2016-22’) – located in Hanmer (Sudbury), with phase 1 completed and sold out. Phase 2 is currently in the works with 31 lots.
  • Sunrise Ridge Estates (2016-21’) – a 67-acre parcel of land for our exclusive multiple unit residential subdivision in Sudbury. SalDan has built more than 100 homes.
  • Paradise, Peach, and Promenade Streets (2009-21’) – Upscale subdivision in Sault Ste. Marie’s P-Patch neighbourhood, comprised of 30 lots
  • Queensgate Subdivision (2004-21’)– Comprised of 60 lots.
  • Central Creek (2019) – Located in Sault Ste. Marie’s west end. It is a 26-lot subdivision of single-family homes. SalDan was responsible for land planning, civil servicing, and construction. 
  • Lang Court Subdivision (2012-16’) – Residential subdivision in the Fort Creek area of Sault Ste. Marie, consisting of single residential homes surrounded by duck ponds and beaver dams heading into the Fort Creek Conservation Lands.
  • Blais Court Subdivision (2013) – Completed in Hamner, Ontario in the Sudbury area which was comprised of 20 lots.
  • Lakeview Subdivision (2005-07’) – Completed and sold out in Sudbury, comprised of 52 upscale homes.
  • Cody Point (2005-07’) – Completed upscale subdivision from planning to occupancy of more than 25 homes. This project also included planning and development.
  • Dominion Park Subdivision (2005-08’) – Completed and Sold Out the 4th phase in Hanmer (Sudbury), comprised of 45 upscale single-family homes.
  • Bianchi Estates (1992) – 90 lot residential subdivision in Sault Ste. Marie, which started in the spring of 1992. This project also included lot planning and civil services.
  • Parkview Court (1997-02’) – 42 lot upscale residential subdivision in Sault Ste. Marie. Started in the fall of 1996, this project also included planning and lot servicing.
  • Millennium Court (1999-02’) – 18 lot residential subdivision in Sault Ste. Marie. Started in the fall of 1999, this project also included site planning and civil servicing.
  • Denwood Drive – Comprised of 85 units of double dwellings for a first home or retirement.
  • Parkinworth Subdivision – Completed in Sault Ste. Marie, with 40 affordable homes.
  • Trottier Subdivision – Completed in Azilda Ontario just outside of Sudbury. This community was comprised of 25 lots.
  • Vesta Co-Operative Homes Inc. – 40-unit townhouse co-op in Sault Ste. Marie. Completed in 1991. This project also included planning and civil services.
  • Vesta Co-Operative Homes Inc. – 40-unit townhouse project in Wawa, Ontario. Completed September 1992.
  • Aile-Nord Co-Operative Homes Inc. – 42-unit townhouse with a 10-unit apartment building in Sudbury. Completed October 1992, this project was a design build which also included planning and civil services.
  • Antigonish Co-Operative Homes Inc. – 30-unit townhouse in Sudbury. Completed July 1994, this project was a design build which also included planning and civil services.
  • Village Court – 62-unit residential townhouses in Sault Ste. Marie. Completed July 1996, this project was a design build which also included planning and civil services.
  • Allen Side Road – 10-unit residential townhouse project in Sault Ste. Marie. Completed May 1996, this project was a design build.
  • Lake Street – 44-unit townhouse and single-family housing in Sault Ste. Marie. Completed August 1999, this project was a design build which also included planning and civil services.
  • Bridgeview Village – 26-unit townhouse complex in Sault Ste. Marie. Completed August 1999, this gated community was a design build project that also included land planning and civil servicing.
  • Parkplace Court – 45-unit upscale residential townhouse project in Sault Ste. Marie. Started Spring 2000, this project was a design build which also included planning and civil services.
  • Fox Run – Phase 1 of our townhouse development where we have sold 57 Townhomes. We have the nicest retirement independent living community in the Sault Ste. Marie area. 
  • Raiffeisen Co-Op Homes Inc. – Built a 60-unit town house complex in Sudbury.
  • Antigonish Co-Op Homes Inc. – Built a 30-unit town house complex for in the town of Azilda, Ontario.
  • Copper Cliff Development – Built a new 10-unit town home complex just outside of Sudbury.
  • 424 Parliament Street and 215 Turner Avenue – Two 4-unit apartment buildings in Sault Ste. Marie. This project was a design and build.
  • Neech-Ke-Wehn Homes Inc. – 8-unit apartment building in Sault Ste. Marie. Completed in 1991, this was a design and build project completed in 1991.
  • Little Current Elderly Housing Corporation – 16-unit apartment complex in Little Current, Ontario. Completed September 1992.
  • White River Senior’s Housing Project – 18-unit apartment project in White River, Ontario. Completed September 1992.
  • Chapleau Community Living Housing Corporation – 12-unit apartment building in Chapleau, Ontario. Completed December 1991.
  • Robin’s Nest Co-Operative Homes Inc. – 60-unit apartment building in Sudbury. Completed December 1992, this project was a design build which also included planning and civil services.
  • Pawating Co-Operative Homes Inc. – 60-unit apartment building in Sault Ste. Marie. Completed September 1993, this project was a design build which also included planning and civil services.
  • Haldimand Co-Operative Homes Inc. – 60-unit apartment building in Sault Ste. Marie. Completed October 1993, this project was a design build which also included planning and civil services.
  • Raiffeisen Co-Operative Homes Inc. – 60-unit apartment / townhouse in Sudbury. Completed October 1994, this project was a design build which also included planning and civil services.
  • Silo Co-Operative Homes Inc. – 36-unit apartment in Sudbury. Completed November 1994, this project was a design build which also included planning and civil services.
  • Croatian Housing Association – 40-unit apartment building in Sault Ste. Marie. Completed May 1995, this project was a Design Build which also included planning and civil services.
  • 104-unit apartment building in Sault Ste. Marie.
  • 107-unit, 53 unit and 20-unit apartment in Sault Ste. Marie.
  • RM Moore Public School – Completed renovation in Sault Ste. Marie.
  • Boreal School – $16m renovation in Sault Ste. Marie in 2019.
  • Central Algoma Secondary School – $5m addition in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
  • Central Algoma Elementary School – Completed a 4.6-million-dollar school renovation which included new lab rooms, 5 washrooms, and a new front entry addition and façade.
  • Korah Collegiate – Completed a $3m renovation in Sault Ste. Marie which included a new atrium and façade.
  • Eastview Public School – Completed a $4.6m renovation in Sault Ste. Marie.
  • Ottawa Shopping Centre – Completed a 100,000 sq. ft. commercial shopping centre which is comprised of a main building housing Shoppers Drug Mart, Staples, Bulk Barn, and various medical offices, as well as independent stores for the LCBO, TD Bank and Harveys/Swiss Chalet.
  • TD Bank – Built an 8,000 sq. ft. at Marlee and Eglinton in Toronto.
  • Scottsdale Plaza – Redeveloped a 45,000 sq. ft shopping plaza in Guelph.
  • Cambridge Shopping Plaza – Planned and built over 100,000 sq. ft. at Canamera Parkway and Franklin Street.
  • Stockyards Shopping Centre Plaza – Planned and Built at Keele and St. Clair in Toronto.
  • Several stand-alone building developments – various vendors throughout Ontario, some of which include for Marks Work Warehouse, LCBO, Shoppers DrugMart, Metro, Staples, TD Bank, Starbucks, Shoeless Joe’s, CIBC, Little Ceasars, Pizza Hut and McDonald’s.
  • Central Algoma Elementary School and Daycare – an 8-million-dollar addition.
  • Superior Heights Field House – a $1,350,000 new memorial building to honour the memory of Sargent John Faughts, an alumnus of the school. This project also included a full sport field illumination component.
  • BP Health building – Constructed for various dental practices. The new $3,500,000 free standing clinic is located in Sault Ste. Marie.
  • PHARA Supportive Housing – Repurposed a former nursing home, converting it into a 35-unit senior apartment living complex, a nurse practitioner clinic, and adult learning center, as well as some administration offices. This building is in Blind River, Ontario.
  • St. Francis School – Built a new daycare addition in Sault Ste. Marie, as well as civil work for a new school yard.
  • Smart Centre – A new 30,000 sq. ft. shopping Plaza in Sudbury’s South End which includes retail shopping and a new free-standing LCBO store.
  • Pino’s Get Fresh – Built a 60,000 sq. ft. grocery store in Sault Ste. Marie.
  • Blind River Municipal Maintenance facility – a new 15,000 sq. ft. maintenance and service building.
  • Mike’s Mart store – 2500 sq. ft. in Sault Ste. Marie.
  • Hostess Potato Chips Constructed – a 5400 sq. ft. warehouse in Sault Ste. Marie.
  • Mechanics Repair Shop – 8000 sq. ft. build in Sault Ste. Marie.
  • Fire Hall – 5000 sq. ft. build in Blind River, Ontario.
  • Blind River Marina – 4000 sq. ft. facility.
  • Banquet Hall – 10,000 sq. ft. in Sault Ste. Marie.
  • The Hillside Centre – Built in Sault Ste. Marie – a 14,000 sq. ft. mini mall.
  • Crystal Creek Hydro Electric Generating Plant – Built in Sault Ste. Marie.
  • Norcam Currency Exchange Building – Built in Sault Ste. Marie.
  • The New Apostolic Church – a full make over and repurposing of the building in Sault Ste. Marie.
  • Echo Bay – Built a new 10 unit building near Sault Ste. Marie.
  • Microtel – Built a new 64 room hotel in Sault Ste. Marie.
  • RBC Dominion Securities Building – Built and operating in Sault Ste. Marie which is a 28,000 sq. ft. office building.
  • Bridgeview Bingo Complex – Built in Sault Ste. Marie, a new 10,000 sq. ft. building.
  • Crown Motel Super 8 – Built in Sault Ste. Marie, a new 64-unit motel.
  • Greenbelt Bingo – Built in Sault Ste. Marie, a new 10,000 sq. ft. facility.
  • Dave Ellis Architect – Renovated an office space in Sault Ste. Marie, a new state of art 2500 sq. ft. professional office space.
  • B.M.R. Building – Built in Sault Ste. Marie, a new 4500 sq. ft. state of the art professional office space.
  • Queenscentre – Renovated office building in Sault Ste. Marie, a 45,000 sq. ft. building which underwent a total make over with a new modern atrium addition.
  • Neech-Ke-When Homes Inc. – 16-unit and eight-unit seniors project in Sault Ste. Marie. Completed July 1993, this project was a design build which also included planning and civil services.
  • Finnish Rest Home – Constructed an 87-unit multi-family residence in Sault Ste. Marie. This project won SalDan the ICF Builder of the Year award for Best Multi Family Building.
  • Ontario Finnish Rest Home – Constructed an 80-unit multi-family residence in Sudbury.
  • Great Northern Retirement Home – Renovated in Sault Ste. Marie including the retrofit of the sprinkler system and various other improvements. 
  • Algoma Manor – Added a 95 bed long term care wing in Thessalon, Ontario. The project was complete with all civil work and yard improvements.
  • Espanola Hospital Maintenance Facility – a new 6000 sq. ft residence building
  • Christian Horizon – Built a new Group Home Facility in Gravenhurst/Keswick.
